Big Picture: This form is used in the process of creating vessel visits.

The Vessel form enables you to add and edit a vessel. Before you add a vessel, you must have at least one vessel class (on page 1) and one line operator (on page 1) defined at the current scope level.

Use this form to manually add vessels or use the Actions Copy Reference Set option to copy vessels defined in an existing entity set.

To add or edit a vessel:

  1. In the Vessel Identity field, enter an ID that uniquely identifies the vessel.

  1. In the Lloyds Identity field, enter a unique ID for the hull of the vessel.

The Lloyds ID is an ID issued by the Lloyds Register of Ships.

  1. In the Name field, enter the name of the vessel.

  2. From the Vessel Class drop-down list, select the vessel class for the vessel.

The drop-down list displays the vessel classes that exist at the current scope level. For more information on adding a vessel class, see Vessel Class form (on page 1).

  1. From the Line Operator drop-down list, select the line operator that operates the vessel.

The drop-down list displays the line operators that exist at the current scope level. For more information on adding a line operator, see Line Operator form (on page 1).

  1. From the Stowage Scheme drop-down list, select a stowage scheme for the vessel.

  2. Enter any optional information for the vessel.

  3. From the Measurements drop-down list, select the unit of measurement, except temperature, for the vessel.

The selected unit of measurement is used by XPS for the ship model.

  1. From the Temperatures drop-down list, select the temperature unit used on the vessel.

The selected temperature unit is used for the reefer manifests for the vessel.

  1. Click Save.

The following table lists the various optional fields in the Vessel form:

Description

Captain

Enter the name of the captain for the vessel.

Radio CallSign

Enter the radio call sign of the vessel.

The radio call sign is assigned by the national licensing authority for the country of origin and is a unique designation for a transmitting station.

The radio call sign is referenced when EDI for a vessel is posted, therefore if the radio call sign is missing EDI errors may occur.

Country

Enter the country where the vessel is registered.

Notes

Enter any notes for the vessel.

Documentation Nbr

Enter the Documentation Number for the vessel.

The Documentation Number is issued by the US Coast Guard National Vessel Documentation Center. Any vessel that operates in US waters is required to have a Documentation Number.

Service Registry Number

Enter the service registry number for the vessel.

The Service Registry Number is the number assigned by the country where the vessel is registered.

For example, if a vessel is registered in Panama, the Service Registry Number is the number assigned to it in the Panama registry system.
